Collection: Round Island Lighthouse Collection

Round Island Lighthouse stands on a tiny granite island, marking the most northerly outpost of the Isles of Scilly. It can be seen clearly from the Lower Town end of St Martin's, and was built by Trinity House in 1887.

Prior to this, St. Agnes Lighthouse safeguarded vessels in the southern approaches to Scilly, and Bishop Rock Lighthouse did the same to the west. But the unlighted dangerous northern limits were hazardous, especially in fog.

The lighthouse was automated in 1987, and its single white flash every 10 seconds helps distinguish it from the double flashes of the Bishop Rock.
